Recently, Myjive implemented a series of online banner campaigns that existed both within Revver’s internal media, as well as a network socially oriented web sites. This viral campaign was backed by several targeted messages featuring video series available only on Revver. Campaigns included Revver’s Featured Collection series, Vlogs, Comedy, and Video of the Day. Featured artists included Adam Carolla, Cute with Chris, and LonelyGirl15.

Myjive designed and animated over 30 different online-banner and video ads all of which conformed to Federated Media’s click-tag and low file-size parameters. Our teams ability to design high-impact ads, maintain accessibility, and allow for portability to other platforms (not just online), is why we think Myjive is a solid match for Revver. We look forward to a lasting relationship with them.

Myjive has partnered with Grammy nominated percussionist Brian Slawson in developing several interactive and print campaigns including; album art, online discography, demo media, and promotional materials. In doing so, the Myjive crew has experienced a person so genuine that we consider him one of our own. Not only is he a master of his craft, he carries a persona that is by far the highlight of every party. Brian, we salute you.

Along with the Slawsongs website re-design in 2004, Myjive has developed; a media-rich Flash video and audio portfolio, logo and identity package, album art, press-kits, sheet music cover designs, print collateral, product photography, hosting and server management, and the list continues. Brian’s web presence has been a unique production process. This site that is currently online is a cumulative result of countless revisions and additions that are literally “several years in the making.” In other words, we started small and now it is a monster!

This latest piece is a Flash-based discography section populated with Brian’s entire collection of recordings. With a cover-flow inspired interface, you can quickly access and listen to any track from an archive of albums. The best of all, it is progressive-streaming through a Flash media component, so no more waiting for high-quality audio files to load.

With plenty of suspense, style and humor, an occasional touch of romance, and always a series of unforeseen twists, each episode takes the viewer deeper into the hidden world of scammers and grifters to reveal the personalities and perverse artistry of the high-end confidence game. Contracted by power-house motion design studio 5-X-B, Myjive creates a “diamond of a concept” for this seasons new set of shows.

The New York Times gives Hustle is “a refreshing throwback to 1960’s caper movies and series like ‘The Avengers.’ It’s slick, clever and playful…” and the The Associated Press says Hustle is “a swank, high-sheen romp.”

There is a sleek, sexy, and suave feel to the show and its characters. This is reflected in the dark, heavy shadowed treatments show here-in, giving the piece a sophisticated appeal. Hustle already has a strong following and established brand, our goals was to spice it up a little and bring in a hint of red, white, and blue. The coming season focuses on the UK based con-artists and their trips across the Atlantic… “Conning to America.”

Design Process
Josh Mason, lead designer for the project, created a landscape for the narrative to unfold. “It is always difficult to create a sense of space and depth, especially when working with two-dimensional assets. I can’t begin to express how many variations were done. The process is really about defining the current moment, understanding where you just came from and where you are going.” Utilizing fragments of video footage, the audience is brought from moment to moment by a series of dotted lines, playing the role of markers that lead you from one highlight to the next.

In commenting on the concept frames, Ron Edelen mentioned the juxtaposition of wide open spaces complimented by small areas of detail. “What’s so great about Josh’s design is that when you look back on in from a distance, there is a feeling of simplicity in form with a good amount of negative space. Yet when you get up close and examine the detail, there is a lot of information to support a narrative that takes you on a journey.” This is the first project where the Myjive team had to think about product placement. Since the production was sponsored by Jeep, photography of Jeeps had to be integrated, but done so in a way that didn’t over-shadow the narrative or impede aesthetic vision.

The foundation of the Roboreptile web presence is the Flash Game. We called the game “Egg Whack” and the narrative was simple: hit the dinosaur egg as far as you can without cracking it open. The Myjive team of engineers developed a custom game engine that simulated gravity, angle, movement, and velocity of an object as it was propelled in the air. The creative team topped this off with a 3D animated Robo character and detailed environmental textures. The results was a highly detailed experience that quickly became the forefront of the Roboreptile web presence.

» View the Roboreptile web presence.

The production also included a 10 second animated opener, an icon and wallpaper section, and a multi-stack video player, using the flash media component and XML driven content. Unique to the web presence is the Roboreptile name generator. The name-gen section allows fans and owners to create a custom name for their Roboreptile. Myjive’s name-gen system assimilates the users unique entries, makes comparisons to related words in a database of Roboreptile’s native language, and based on this comparison formulates a unique name. What is your Robo-name?

The Robot Reptile Eggs were inspired by the internationally acclaimed Contemporary Porcelain artist, John Tilton. His unique Zinc Crystal process creates incredibly breathtaking patterns - something only Nature could rival.

“We had the great opportunity to work with a new Ad Agency on this project. Buzztone had a strong team of people with great ideas for how to best promote this product. We simply took their vision and pushed it to the next level,” said Albert Banks, Technical Director for the project. This is the first time Myjive has worked with Buzztone, a Marketing Agency based out of Los Angeles. Even amongst the quick turn around in order to beat the Thanksgiving rush, working with Buzztone was a killer experience. We formed some new friendships and hope to see more collaborations between Myjive and Buzztone in projects to come.

Focusing on the 2006 year-ends connections and breakups, E! highlights the best and worst real-life Love stories of those who matter. Brangelina, Tomkat, Pamela, Rock, Parket, Broderick…. and the list goes on.

Subcontracted by 5-x-b, Myjive worked with Designer/Illustrator Josh Mason from the Chicago based “Studio of The Month.” Josh provided a great sense of direction as well as illustrated assets for this star-struck circus world. With a combination of hot-dog looking balloons, hearts, lines of sound, and boxes, the landscape for this Love Ride took shape. “It was fun to see how elements could spill out of frames - a kind of metaphor for how we can push reality to hyper-real, almost obscure levels. The shapes then began to form themselves into whirl of lines and shapes, which gave us the feeling that we where engaged in some kind of amusement ride. This was a frustrating, yet curiously fun project to work on. The content is definitely something we don’t see on a regular basis.”

What better way to spend the days then pondering over the complex energy between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, or Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? We, like so many other gossip-hungry star worshipers, feel that it is not what a person says that defines them… it is who they take to the premiere that matters. On the path to stardom, Myjive produces a melodramatic concept for E! Entertainment Television’s new show, The Love Ride.

From concept to execution, Myjive developed a creative marketing campaign that centers around a fictional expedition to the antarctic wasteland. Born almost a century ago, this narrative set a foundation for IC Media’s now recognizable brand. “We want the experience to be fun, and we as a company want to portray a fresh and creative image to not only our clients, but those in our industry,” said Steve Kitzman, producer at IC Media. “When we saw the first mock-up for the just our logo, we new before seeing anything else that this was gonna be a great ride.” The expedition was a failure - yet the unimaginable saga of survival that followed ensured that it was for this, the failed Endurance expedition, that Kitzman and Copeland are ultimately most remembered.

Production for IC Media included a hybrid Flash presence with full dynamic integration of a secure Content Management System (CMS). This combination provided rich graphic, animation, and media assets with an online CMS platform that gave IC Media employees the ability to easily update content such as news, events, client features, and expedition narratives. The Content Management System was also seamlessly integrated into an IC Media Blog, providing a central panel to easily manage all elements of the IC Media web presence.

With a strong front-end presence available to the world, Myjive went a step further with a powerful internal project management platform. This web-based platform (virtual intranet) provides cross-project management tools allowing IC Media to quickly organize projects and communicate task, procedures, approvals, reviews, and progress with all of their clients. Just some of the robust features include; file upload, file management, user profiles, comments and message system with spam control, automatic email notifications, tasks and calendar.

A note from Ron
When explaining what goes on in the Myjive Studio during a presentation at the University of Florida, I asked the question - How do you design a web site? A large percentage of the students responded along the lines of… “It’s a multi-layered process involving a variable degree of conceptualization, layout, planning, and coding.” When asked the same question at a local High School here in Richmond, to my astonishment students responded in a completely different tone - “You have to use MySpace.” Similar to how Kodak made it possible for everyone to be a photographer, MySpace has done the same for the web. So what does this mean? Personal expression on the web is no longer just for the privileged.

Online social networking platforms are incredibly viral, and it seems that the commercial industry has taken notice. Tools such as forums and blogs put the power of personalization into the users hands, bolstering the ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, and passions with others who share similar interests. Furthermore, we are seeing social circles becoming powerful engines for information. How does this translate to the an advertising world? Its simple… “Word of mouth.” MySpace now houses millions of “web designers” and “copywriters” from the age of 12 and up - all of whom crave to promote their own interests and share their news to others. Advertisers see MySpace as a series of fish ponds, and are now strategically placing “products” and “brand messages” into niche social circles. The user then spreads the word. It is as if MySpace (and similar social networking tools) provide Ad Agencies with a low-cost, highly efficient marketing army.
